Seismic Retrofit Project
The Seattle Public Library Green Lake Branch, one of the Library’s historic Carnegie buildings, will be renovated with structural improvements (a seismic retrofit) to ensure the safety of patrons and staff in case of an earthquake. Construction will begin in October 2022 and is expected to be fully completed by June 2023.
Wonder Awaits.
For our Year of Wonder, we're partnering with four local artists to celebrate the wonders of every season. Our spring artist Adrian Valencia draws inspiration from beauty and fantasy in queer culture. Visit a branch to pick up a postcard version of his piece celebrating growth and renewal at the Library, or download your own to print and color.
The current Green Lake Branch was renovated and reopened March 6, 2004. Tall ceilings contribute to a sense of spaciousness and rich detailing and use of wood throughout the interior adds to the warm, historic feel of the branch.
