Computers & Equipment at the Madrona-Sally Goldmark Branch

The Madrona-Sally Goldmark Branch of The Seattle Public Library has a variety of computers and equipment available for the public.


9 Public Computers at Madrona-Sally Goldmark Branch:

  • Computers for access to the Library's online catalog and online databases only
  • Computers for Internet access, with filtered access options
  • Computers equipped with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, After Effects, InDesign, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver, Audition, Acrobat, and more.)
  • Express terminals available without reservation for 15 minutes maximum use



Reserve a computer - opens in a new window

You need a permanent Library card to reserve a computer. No Library card? Guest passes are available for a single 30-minute session if you don't qualify for a Library card. Visitors and non-residents can also buy a Library card.



Adaptive Equipment

  • Computers with XP Magnifier software

Wireless Internet Access

  • Available to users with Wi-Fi enabled laptops and wireless devices
  • Can connect in most areas of the building
  • No hourly or daily user fees
  • Users responsible for configuring own equipment and connecting to network
  • Settings:
    • SSID (Service Set Identifier) or network name = spl-public:
    • Encryption or WEP = disable WEP encryption
    • Mode or Network Type = Infrastructure Mode or Access Point (not ad-hoc)
    • Set TCP/IP properties to "Obtain an IP address automatically" (DHCP)


PLEASE NOTE: The wireless Internet service is not secure and is used at the individual's risk. Even if firewalls are running on laptops, it is recommended that sensitive information not be sent through this network.





Wi-Fi Printing

Can I print while using Wi-Fi?

Yes. Wi-Fi printing is available at all Library locations from personal devices such as laptops, tablets or smartphones. You must be inside a Library building and connected to the library’s Wi-Fi “spl-public” – you cannot send a print job to a Library location from home.


How does Wi-Fi printing work?

Connect your laptop, tablet or smartphone to the Library’s Wi-Fi and log in at Upload the document or Web page you want to print and select color or black and white. Retrieve your print job at the print release station.


What is required to use Wi-Fi printing?

You must be inside a Library location, connected to the library’s Wi-Fi “spl-public” and have a Library card, guest pass or guest login. Access the Wi-Fi printing login screen at




Copiers & Printers

  • Copier and printer available
  • Pay for print system: requires a Library card or guest pass to set up an account.
  • Free printing is available from Library Catalog only


Charges for printing to a Library printer

How to pay: Cash, credit card or PayPal account for online payment at

  • $.15 per page for black and white printing
    (8.5" x 11")
  • $.50 per page for color printing
    (8.5" x 11")

Note: Double-sided printing is not available.


Charges for using a copy machine

How to pay: Cash only.

  • $.15 for a single-sided black and white copy
    (8.5" x 11" and 8.5" x 14")
  • $.30 for a double-sided black and white copy
    (8.5" x 11" and 8.5" x 14")
  • $.50 for a single-sided color copy
    (8.5" x 11" and 8.5" x 14")
  • $1 for a double-sided color copy
    (8.5" x 11" and 8.5" x 14")


11" x 17" copies

Seven locations can make 11" x 17" copies: Central Library (Level 9) and the Ballard, Beacon Hill, Capitol Hill, Greenwood, Northeast and Southwest branches.

  • $.30 for a single-sided black and white copy
  • $.60 for a double-sided black and white copy
  • $1 for a single-sided color copy
  • $2 for a double-sided color copy





  • Audible cell phone and pager ringers must be turned off. See Rules of Conduct.
