Ancestry Library

Trace your family history with Ancestry Library

Find your ancestors with Ancestry Library, a free online resource available on computers at The Seattle Public Library. Ancestry Library has over four billion records in census data, vital records, directories, photos and more.

There are several ways to find Ancestry Library on the Library's website (www.spl.org):

  • Search for Ancestry Library in the catalog.

  • Click on the "Library Collection" category at the top of the Library's home page, then select the "Genealogy" category (listed below "Articles & Research") and click on "Ancestry Library Edition."

Ancestry Library is available only on computers at The Seattle Public Library.

Ancestry Library has many different kinds of sources, including censuses, vital records, immigration records, family histories, military records, legal documents, maps and more. United States collections also include birth, death and marriage certificates and trans-ocean ship records.
