Library Closed Monday, May 29

All locations of The Seattle Public Library and the book drops at the Central Library will be closed on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29.

 

Service interruption in the Library's Online Catalog – May 28 and May 29

The Library will be performing maintenance on our catalog starting at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, May 28 - 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 29. During this time, you will be able to search the Bibliocommons catalog, but will not be able to log in, place holds, renew items or use other catalog features. The former Library catalog (Horizon Information Portal), SPL Mobile, access to e-books, free music downloads and many databases and applications also will be unavailable.

E-book formats: EPUB & PDF
For the Nook HD or Kobo Arc, use the Android instuctions below

  1. Download Adobe Digital Editions to your computer opens in a new window
  2. Authorize Adobe Digital Editons with an Adobe ID opens in a new window
  3. Log into your library account
  4. Find an e-book you want and check it out
    (You may need to place a hold on popular items)
  5. Click on the Download button and choose the EPUB or PDF format. The book will appear in Adobe Digital Editions
  6. Plug your Nook or Kobo into your computer with its USB cord
  7. In Adobe Digital Editions, "drag and drop" the e-book into your e-reader

OverDrive App Instructions for Android opens in a new window

E-book format: EPUB

Use for Android devices, including Nook HD and Kobo Arc

  1. Install the OverDrive app to your device opens in a new window
  2. Authorize the OverDrive app with an OverDrive account opens in a new window
  3. Add "The Seattle Public Library" to My Library
  4. Log into your library account, find an e-book you want and check it out
    (You may need to place a hold on popular items)
  5. Tap on the Download button and choose the EPUB format
  6. E-books download directly to the app's "Bookshelf" via Wi-Fi

Note: Return e-books early from the OverDrive app

 

OverDrive - more details:

  • May require placing a hold
  • Check out up to 25 items
  • Keep items for up to 3 weeks: can return early
  • No overdue fines
