Library Closed Monday, May 29
All locations of The Seattle Public Library and the book drops at the Central Library will be closed on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29.
Service interruption in the Library's Online Catalog – May 28 and May 29
The Library will be performing maintenance on our catalog starting at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, May 28 - 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 29. During this time, you will be able to search the Bibliocommons catalog, but will not be able to log in, place holds, renew items or use other catalog features. The former Library catalog (Horizon Information Portal), SPL Mobile, access to e-books, free music downloads and many databases and applications also will be unavailable.
Free one-hour workshops teach students how to use the Library's online resources (online newspapers, magazines, journals and encyclopedias) for homework and research. Students also learn information literacy skills - how to evaluate online information.
The workshops begin on level 3 of the Central Library with a brief tour of the Teen Center. Workshops are taught by teen librarians in the computer labs on level 4 and may be tailored to a subject area or school assignment.
Seattle-area middle school and high school teachers or school officials may sign-up for a workshop for up to 32 students. The workshops are available at 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday mornings. A completed registration form should be dropped off, mailed or faxed to the Teen Center at least three weeks in advance of the requested date.
