All locations of The Seattle Public Library and the book drops at the Central Library will be closed on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29.
Service interruption in the Library's Online Catalog – May 28 and May 29
The Library will be performing maintenance on our catalog starting at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, May 28 - 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 29. During this time, you will be able to search the Bibliocommons catalog, but will not be able to log in, place holds, renew items or use other catalog features. The former Library catalog (Horizon Information Portal), SPL Mobile, access to e-books, free music downloads and many databases and applications also will be unavailable.
The Washington Center for the Book administers the annual Washington State Book Awards (formerly the Governor's Writers Awards), given for outstanding books published by Washington authors the previous year.
The Washington State Book Awards ceremony was held on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016.
A book award is given based on the strength of the publication's literary merit, lasting importance and overall quality. The awards and celebration are sponsored by The Seattle Public Library Foundation.

The jury for the adult awards: Linda Andrews, instructor, English, Walla Walla Community College; Lisa Bitney, adult services librarian, Tacoma Public Library; Pam Cady, manager, University Book Store; Lisa Gresham, collection support manager, Whatcom County Library System; and Paul Hanson, general manager, Village Books, Bellingham.
The jury for the Scandiuzzi Children's Book Awards: Thomas Brown, librarian, Laurelhurst Elementary School in Seattle; Judy Hobbs, retired children's book buyer, Third Place Books; and Carmine Rau, children's librarian, Bainbridge Public Library, Kitsap Regional Library.
