Will Allen discusses 'The Good Food Revolution' Nov. 20 at The Seattle Public Library

Join us for a community information fair on sustainable foods and urban farming, and meet Will Allen, author of "The Good Food Revolution," from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20 at The Seattle Public Library, Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium.

 

Library events are free and open to the public. Registration is not required. Parking is available in the Central Library garage for $5 after 5 p.m.

 

The community information fair will feature local organizations dedicated to educating, advocating, and growing a sustainable food and farm community in the Seattle area, including: Farmer Frog, Seattle Tilth, READERS to EATERS, 21 Acres, Beacon Food Forest, City Fruit, Common Acres's Flight Path Project/Urban Bee Company, Danny Woo Community Garden, Flagship Foundation-Pure Food Kids Workshop, Lettuce Link, Salmon Safe, Seattle Department of Planning and Development/DPD, Seattle Parks and Recreation Good Food Program, Slow Food Seattle and WA Healthy Food in Health Care Initiative.

 

Allen is the founder and CEO of Growing Power, Inc., in Milwaukee, Wis. He is widely considered a leading authority in the expanding field of urban agriculture. TIME magazine named Allen one of The 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2010.

 

This event is supported by The Seattle Public Library Foundation, media sponsor The Seattle Times and is presented in partnership with Readers to Eaters, Seattle Tilth, the Snohomish County Focus on Farming Conference and Farmer Frog. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
