Margo Lanagan will read from her new book, "The Brides of Rollrock Island," from 4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9 at The Seattle Public Library, Northeast Branch, 6801 35th Ave. N.E.
The program is free and open to the public. Registration is not required. Free parking is available at the branch.
"The Brides of Rollrock Island" is a tale of desire, despair and transformation steeped in selkie lore, with characters capable of unspeakable cruelty and unspoken love.
Lanagan is a highly acclaimed writer of novels, short stories and poetry. Her book "Tender Morsels" was a Michael L. Printz Honor Book, won the World Fantasy Award for best novel, and was named a best book of the year by Kirkus Reviews, Publishers Weekly, The Horn Book Magazine, Booklist, The Bulletin, and School Library Journal. Lanagan lives in Sydney, Australia.
