All locations of The Seattle Public Library and the book drops at the Central Library will be closed on Christmas Eve, Wednesday, Dec. 24 and Christmas Day Thursday, Dec. 25.
Service interruption in the Library's Online Catalog - Jan. 1
Between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1, the Library will be upgrading its electrical power system. During the upgrade, you will be able to search the catalog, but won't be able to log in, place holds, renew items or use other catalog features. The former Library catalog (Horizon Information Portal) will not be available at all. SPL Mobile, access to e-books, free music downloads and many databases and applications also will be unavailable.
Seattle librarians now provide fact-checking for 2012 Living Voters Guide
The Seattle Public Library is partnering with Seattle CityClub to support the Living Voters Guide, an interactive voter's guide for all Washingtonians to exchange thoughts and opinions. The Library will provide fact-checking reference service on state-wide ballot measures for users of the Living Voters Guide.
The content of the Living Voters Guide is written by citizens, for citizens. Participants submit pros and cons on ballot measures to share their perspectives with others.
Living Voters Guide users can now request fact-checking assistance from The Seattle Public Library. To ask a librarian to check the facts of a claim on the Living Voters Guide, click the "Ask a Librarian" button available at the bottom of each post. Librarians will verify the content of flagged claims and post fact-checking results, with citations, within 48 hours.
The Living Voters Guide is presented by Seattle CityClub and UW Engage.
