Library closed Dec. 24 and 25

All locations of The Seattle Public Library and the book drops at the Central Library will be closed on Christmas Eve, Wednesday, Dec. 24 and Christmas Day Thursday, Dec. 25.


Service interruption in the Library's Online Catalog - Jan. 1

Between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1,  the Library will be upgrading its electrical power system. During the upgrade, you will be able to search the catalog, but won't be able to log in, place holds, renew items or use other catalog features. The former Library catalog (Horizon Information Portal) will not be available at all. SPL Mobile, access to e-books, free music downloads and many databases and applications also will be unavailable.

Jim Lynch reads from 'Truth Like the Sun' Feb. 21 at The Seattle Public Library

Jim Lynch will read from his latest novel, "Truth Like the Sun," from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 at The Seattle Public Library, Ballard Branch, 5614 22nd Ave. N.W.


Library events are free and open to the public. Registration is not required. Free parking is available at the branch.


"Truth Like the Sun" is set in Seattle and alternates in time between the 1962 World's Fair in Seattle and after the dot-com bubble burst in 2001.


Lynch also wrote the international best-seller "The Highest Tide," winner of the Pacific Northwest Bookseller Award, and "Border Songs," winner of the Washington State Book Award and the Indie's Choice Honor Book Award. Lynch grew up in Seattle and now lives in Olympia.


This event is presented in partnership with Secret Garden Bookshop. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
