Library closed Dec. 24 and 25

All locations of The Seattle Public Library and the book drops at the Central Library will be closed on Christmas Eve, Wednesday, Dec. 24 and Christmas Day Thursday, Dec. 25.

 

Service interruption in the Library's Online Catalog - Jan. 1

Between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1,  the Library will be upgrading its electrical power system. During the upgrade, you will be able to search the catalog, but won't be able to log in, place holds, renew items or use other catalog features. The former Library catalog (Horizon Information Portal) will not be available at all. SPL Mobile, access to e-books, free music downloads and many databases and applications also will be unavailable.

EVENT POSTPONED: Cliff Mass and Scott Sistek talk about the weather Feb. 23 at The Seattle Public Library

Pacific Northwest weather

Join Cliff Mass and Scott Sistek for a discussion about weather from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at The Seattle Public Library, Ballard Branch, 5614 22nd Ave. N.W.

 

The program is free and open to the public. Registration is not required. Free parking is available at the branch.

 

Local experts Mass and Sistek will discuss the weather of the Pacific Northwest. Q13 Fox News meteorologist M.J. McDermott will introduce the program.

 

Mass is a professor of atmospheric sciences at the University of Washington and the author of "The Weather of the Pacific Northwest." He writes the Cliff Mass Weather Blog and hosts the "Weather with Cliff Mass" radio segment every Friday morning on KPLU 88.5 FM.

 

Sistek graduated with a degree in atmospheric sciences from the University of Washington and writes the Partly to Mostly Bloggin' weather blog for KOMONews.com.

 

This event is presented in partnership with the Secret Garden Bookshop. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
