Bruce Barcott discusses 'The Measure of a Mountain' Aug. 1 at The Seattle Public Library
Author Bruce Barcott will discuss "The Measure of a Mountain: Beauty and Terror on Mount Rainier" with Terry Tazioli, host of TVW's "Well Read,"from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1 at The Seattle Public Library, Central Library, 1000 Fourth Ave., Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium.
Library events are free and open to the public. Registration is not required. Parking is available in the Central Library garage for $5 after 5 p.m.
"The Measure of a Mountain: Beauty and Terror on Mount Rainier" chronicles Barcott's quest to know and explore the mountain. The book was selected as Transportation Choices Coalition's Books on the Bus spring/summer 2013 selection.
Books on the Bus is a quarterly book club for bus and train riders. The project selects a book each quarter for participants to read on their commutes. An event is held at the end of each three-month reading period to celebrate and discuss the book.
Barcott is an editor, environmental journalist and author. He is a contributing editor of Outside and has written articles for multiple publications, including The New York Times Magazine, National Geographic and Sports Illustrated. He lives on Bainbridge Island.
