All locations of The Seattle Public Library and the book drops at the Central Library will be closed on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7.
Selection and Hiring Pointers
When Applying for a Library Job
Keep these tips in mind:
Make a copy of your application if you want one before you submit it. Once received, it is the property of the Library.
The Library will check references of finalists.
If offered a job, you must allow The Seattle Public Library to run a criminal background check before you can be hired. However, a criminal conviction won't immediately disqualify you from employment.
To be hired, you must provide acceptable proof of identity and authorization to work in the United States, per the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. Acceptable identification can be valid state-issued photo identification (such as a driver's license) and an original Social Security card.
If You Have a Disability
You may request special accommodations to complete the selection process. Early notice is helpful, however you can make a request at any time during the process.
To make a request or get more information, call The Seattle Public Library Human Resources Department at 206-386-4121. Hearing impaired applicants may use TTD on 206-386-4121.
There is no smoking allowed in The Seattle Public Library workplace.
