Library Closed Monday, Feb. 15

All locations of The Seattle Public Library and the book drops at the Central Library will be closed on Presidents Day, Monday, Feb. 15.

Possible service interruption in online Library services Feb. 13 - 14

The Library will be performing maintenance on our network. While we are not expecting service interruptions during this period, there might be brief interruptions in online services. You will be able to search the Bibliocommons catalog, but may not be able to log in, place holds, renew items or use other catalog features. The former Library catalog (Horizon Information Portal) may experience outages as well. SPL Mobile, access to e-books, free music downloads and many databases and applications also may be affected.

2016 Budget

On Nov. 23, 2015, the City Council approved Mayor Ed Murray's proposed 2016 budget.

The Library's 2016 operating budget is $67.2 million, which includes $13.7 million in funding from the Library levy, and is $1.8 million higher than the Library's 2015 operating budget. The $4.5 million capital improvement budget, which is used for major maintenance and asset preservation, includes $2.24 million from the Library levy, and is $900,000 more than in 2015.

In August 2012, Seattle voters approved a $123 million, seven-year Library levy to restore and improve core services.
